Hi, I’m Kate.
Welcome to a little about me
—
They say the key to happiness is finding what you love to do so you never have to work a day in your life. Or, more likely, you’ll work really hard, but the work will be worth it. As it turns out, my ‘key’ in life is supporting others through an integrative and holistic approach to gut health, nutrition and movement while also dabbling in many exciting projects as a designer.
Your Biography Is Your Biology
I’ve always believed that our personal stories and the way we live shape our physical health and deeply influence our overall wellbeing.
My own story has been a testament to this truth. It’s been a journey where I’ve faced challenges related to digestive, immune, and hormone health, alongside chronic pain from an injury. While enduring sorrow and grief after unexpected losses has been a profound teacher, showing me the importance of embracing every moment and living with intention.
These experiences have evolved into a source of resilience and inspiration for me. The lessons I’ve gained from navigating and overcoming these adversities have seamlessly integrated into every aspect of my life. Showing me how we can transform the anatomy of our health by understanding and nurturing our mind and body's unique needs throughout life’s twists and turns.
Following My True North
From the beginning, wellbeing has always been my guide, fuelled by my passion for nutrition and movement. While my love for design earned me a Bachelor in Design and Visual Communications, it was my commitment to wellness that led me to explore Sports Science, Group Fitness, and The Bikram Yoga Method.
In 2008, this love for movement lead to opening my first Bikram Yoga Studio in Christchurch. Then, almost a decade later, a health scare with myocarditis marked a turning point, guiding me towards a deeper exploration of holistic and integrative health.
This transition felt like a natural progression, sparked by my insatiable curiosity to understand the science behind how what we consume and the challenges we face influence every aspect of our wellbeing. My own health journey especially illuminated the intricate web connecting chronic inflammation, autoimmune disorders and emotional health to the gut microbiome, nutrient deficiencies, stress and environmental toxins.
Taking a Deep Dive
During my healing journey, I encountered the limitations of traditional Western medicine, which inspired me to expand my knowledge. This led me to study at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition (IIN) to become an Integrative Nutritionist, and I am now advancing my education to become a Registered Clinical Nutritionist. My mission is to bridge the gap between functional diagnostics and holistic care, addressing root-cause biomarkers through a whole-body approach to health.
Today, as an Integrative Nutritionist, Health Coach, and Yoga Teacher, I understand the profound impact of an inside-out approach to wellbeing. My passion lies in educating and empowering clients, together tailoring bespoke and restorative plans that blend nutrition, lifestyle choices, down-regulation practices and movement, guiding them on their unique path to becoming the healthiest versions of themselves.
This is truly the key to my own fulfilment. Whether it's teaching a yoga class or creating a bigger conversation for those struggling with different aspects of their health or simply wanting to enhance their vitality. I have made so many precious friends through this work, and it has been a privilege helping others improve their mind, bodies and overall quality of life as a result.
