ABOUT KATE
Hi, I’m Kate.
As an integrative clinical nutritionist in Christchurch, I work one-on-one with people, supporting them to better understand their health and make informed choices that support their wellbeing.
My approach has been shaped by both clinical training and the lessons that have come from over two decades in the fitness industry, my experience as an athlete, and living in a sensitive, yet resilient body. Together, these experiences have shaped not only the clinician I am today, but the way I support every person I meet.
Your biography is your biology.
HOW I GOT HERE
I've come to believe that our personal stories, how we live, what we carry, and what we’ve experienced shape our physical health.
My own health journey has reinforced this belief. I’ve navigated digestive, immune, and hormonal challenges, alongside chronic pain from injuries, and overwhelming grief following unexpected loss. These experiences have deepened my understanding of how stress, inflammation, and emotional load can be reflected in the body.
While my formal education began in design, my passion for health and wellbeing has always guided my path, leading me into sports science, group fitness, and Bikram Yoga.
In 2008, I opened my first Bikram Yoga studio in Christchurch, where I spent more than a decade supporting clients through movement, breath, and mind–body connection. Through this work, I witnessed the profound impact that movement, stress, mindset, community and lifestyle can have on wellbeing.
A later health scare with myocarditis marked a turning point in my own health journey. While my years in fitness and yoga had shown me that health is about far more than the absence of disease, this experience fuelled a desire to better understand the many interconnected factors that influence our health and wellbeing.
As I leaned into my studies in nutrition and human physiology, I became increasingly aware of the intricate connections between gut health, nutrient status, immune function, hormonal balance and emotional resilience. This deeper understanding compelled me to bridge the gap between the holistic principles that had guided my work for many years and the evidence-informed nutrition science that could help me support people in a more meaningful way.
What my journey continues to teach me
WHY I DO THIS WORK
One thing my journey continues to teach me is that there is always more to learn.
The challenges I faced became an invitation to better understand the body and to question, investigate and continually refine my understanding in pursuit of what genuinely made a difference.
Over time, that process has helped me rebuild trust in my body and appreciate that integrative care is not about choosing between holistic principles and conventional medicine, but understanding the value of both.
This perspective continues to shape the way I think, learn and practise, reminding me of the importance of slowing down, asking thoughtful questions and taking the time to understand the person in front of me before looking for solutions.
Whether you're navigating complex health challenges, fuelling an active life, or learning how to support your body in the season you're in, my hope is that you feel heard, understood and empowered to make choices that support your healthiest you.

QUESTIONS ABOUT WORKING WITH ME
A few common ones
-
Yes. New consultations are open, in person in Christchurch and online throughout New Zealand. The free 15-minute chat is the easy first step to see whether we are a fit.
-
Both. My preference is one-on-one in person in Christchurch, which is how I work with most clients. Online sessions are available throughout New Zealand for people who cannot easily attend in person, or for follow up appointments.
-
I am completing my clinical qualification and currently practise under the supervision of an experienced mentor. That means your plan has experienced clinical oversight behind it. I will update my credentials here as my registration progresses.
-
It is complementary, not a replacement. I work alongside your GP or specialist where appropriate. The difference is the lens. Integrative nutrition looks at the whole system, including the patterns and drivers that often sit between medical specialities.
-
Yes, my book, Your Healthiest You, was written a couple of years ago and shares a lot of my story and the lessons I have learned through integrative nutrition. There is also more on the blog as I publish it.
