Simply Begin
At last after months of tinkering with the pages, determined to write and design my book and make it everything I hoped and imagined, it’s going to be finally completed sometime next week. Preparing to see it in its finished form I found myself this weekend revisiting the photoshoot that begun the journey. I can still remember exactly how I felt on the day of the shoot, taking the first step in creating an idea that has been bouncing around my head for years.
I am so grateful to Diederik from Lightworkx for encouraging me to show up last November and finally get the photos taken leading to the pages in this book despite not feeling 100% ready, because the truth is, when are we ever ready?
There is so much power in pouring your time and focus into little projects that fill you with a sense of purpose and belonging, whatever they may be.
Through my struggle with daily grief, it’s been my ability to find meaningful inspiration that has helped me with the emotions that flow through me. This book is dedicated to my Dad. The man who fearlessly loved and supported me in everything I chose to do with my life, even if it was a little outside the box. He loved this yoga, he loved the community of wonderful people it bought into our lives and had I given him the okay he would have been teaching the classes!
As I prepare for this last step, to receive the finished beautifully bound book, in a way leaves me with a little lump in my throat, because I would love to share it with Dad more than anything. Living your process through grief means doing whatever you can to find purpose tomorrow. This is what this book means to me.
I’ve seen so many people transformed by the Bikram Method, which I have aimed to practically and efficiently explain in the book as keys to your practice of self-study. What's cool for me is that putting this wee project together inspired and helped me reclaim and remember for myself the wisdom of our body, especially during difficult times.
Thank you all, without your support I may never have reached this far and it is my hope that those of you who have asked for a copy will be inspired, engaged and grow to understand what an important role you play in your own health and trusting your process to healing, both in body and mind.
