Functional testing in New Zealand
FUNCTIONAL TESTING
There are times when symptoms don't tell the whole story. You may have already made meaningful changes to your nutrition and lifestyle, completed blood tests or explored different avenues of care, yet still be searching for a clearer understanding of what may be contributing to how you're feeling.
Functional testing doesn't replace conventional investigations. When used thoughtfully and at the right time, it complements them by offering another perspective when the information we already have doesn't fully explain what you're experiencing.
Before recommending any investigation, I consider whether it will help us better understand what's happening and meaningfully inform the next steps in your care. That philosophy shapes the way I approach functional testing

HOW I THINK ABOUT YOUR HEALTH
Your body does not work in isolation. Gut health, nutrient status, hormones, immune function, the nervous system and lifestyle are constantly influencing one another. This means not only paying closer attention to nutrition, movement, mindset, sleep and stress, but also the quality of these foundations and the way they shape how you feel.
By bringing together your story, symptoms, health history and clinical insights, we can begin to recognise patterns across multiple systems, and gain a clearer picture of your health.
From there, my role is to collaborate with you, helping translate those insights into informed choices that fit your life today, while adapting your approach as your health, goals and circumstances change.

Why this clinical work is
personal
WHY I WORK THIS WAY
For as long as I can remember, I have been a student of health, movement and wellbeing, fascinated by the human body and dedicated to understanding what helps us feel, move and live well. But my own health journey taught me something I could never have learnt from a textbook: that even when we care deeply for our bodies, health is not something we can completely control, but something we continually learn to understand, support and nurture.
Those experiences changed the way I see health. They deepened my respect for the body’s resilience, the importance of listening to its whispers, and the value of creating an approach that supports people to better understand their body, honour their changing needs and make informed choices through the different seasons of life.
Because your healthiest you won't look like mine, and it won't look like anyone else's.
QUESTIONS ABOUT WORKING WITH ME
A few common ones
-
Yes, absolutely. Most people I work with have more than one thing going on. Whole-person, integrative, clinical nutrition is designed for exactly that, rather than treating each symptom on its own.
-
Not at all. A page only exists where there is enough depth to warrant one. The areas in the wider list are fully part of how I work. The free chat is the easiest way to talk through yours.
-
No. Many people come to me without a diagnosis or clear answers. We start with your story, your health history and how you're feeling today. Where appropriate, I work alongside your GP, specialist and other healthcare providers to ensure your nutrition and lifestyle plan complements your wider medical care.
-
Yes. Sessions are available online throughout New Zealand. In-person is available if you are in Christchurch and prefer it.
-
I am currently certified in both Integrative Nutrition and Performance Nutrition and am completing my final year of supervised clinical mentoring towards becoming an Accredited and Registered Clinical Nutritionist and Complementary Medical Practitioner in Australasia. As part of this process, I continue to practise under the guidance of an experienced clinical mentor.
