Nutrition Support for Women's Hormonal Health
AREAS I SUPPORT
Hormonal health is influenced by far more than hormones alone. Throughout a woman's life, factors such as nutrition, energy availability, sleep, stress, movement, inflammation and overall health all contribute to the environment in which hormones function. While hormonal changes are a natural part of every stage of life, including perimenopause, the way we experience them is shaped by the health of the wider systems they are constantly interacting with.
As an Integrative Clinical Nutritionist, my role is to help you better understand your hormonal health through the lens of nutrition and lifestyle. Where appropriate, I complement conventional medical care by supporting the physiological systems that underpin hormonal health.
Does this sound like you?
RECOGNISING THE PATTERN
Perhaps you're navigating perimenopause, living with PMS, PCOS or endometriosis, or simply feeling that something has changed. You might be experiencing:
Perimenopause symptoms affecting your sleep, mood, energy, concentration or body composition.
Menstrual cycles that have become irregular, heavy, painful or absent.
PMS or PMDD that affects a week or more of every month.
Living with PCOS or endometriosis and looking for support beyond symptom management.
Feeling tired, experiencing hair thinning or noticing other changes that you suspect may be hormone-related.
Being told your blood tests are "normal", yet still not feeling like yourself.
Understanding Women's Hormonal Health
A LITTLE CLARITY
Hormones are chemical messengers, constantly responding to the environment they function within. They don't work independently. Factors such as blood sugar regulation, stress, sleep, energy availability, gut health, inflammation and nutrient status all influence the signals your body sends and receives.
That doesn't mean nutrition is the answer to every hormonal condition. However, it does mean that the way we nourish ourselves can meaningfully influence the environment in which hormones function, and in turn, how we experience symptoms.
Whether you're navigating perimenopause, PMS, changes to your menstrual cycle, or conditions such as PCOS or endometriosis, my approach focuses on supporting the foundations of health that allow your body to function as well as possible. Sometimes that means making simple changes. Other times it may involve more targeted nutritional strategies. Every recommendation has a purpose, with the goal of supporting both your health and your quality of life.
While we can't always change the hormonal transitions our bodies go through, we can often support the systems that help us move through them.
This Work Is Personal
WHY THIS MATTERS TO ME
I've long believed that every system in the body is connected. In recent years, my own health journey, alongside my ongoing studies in clinical nutrition, has deepened that belief. Experiencing firsthand how changes in immune function, inflammation and nutrition influenced my own hormonal health gave me a much deeper appreciation for the complexity of the body's interconnected systems.
Through that experience, I came to appreciate how profoundly nutrition, energy availability, stress and immune function can shape hormonal health, and in turn, how hormonal changes can influence the way we sleep, think, feel, digest, recover and move through the world.
How I work with you
WORKING TOGETHER
Every woman's hormonal journey is unique. Together, we'll identify the factors influencing your health and create a personalised plan that evolves with you through every stage of life.
01
Your initial consultation
A 70-minute consultation, in person in Christchurch or online, where we'll explore your health history, symptoms, nutrition and lifestyle to understand the factors influencing your hormonal health.
02
Supporting Foundations
A personalised nutrition and lifestyle plan. This may include supporting blood sugar regulation, nutrient intake, sleep, stress management and other factors that influence hormone function.
03
Further Investigation
Where appropriate, we'll discuss whether functional testing such as a DUTCH test or collaboration with your GP or other healthcare practitioners may provide additional insight.
04
Ongoing support as you progress
Regular follow-up sessions allow us to refine your plan as your body, symptoms and health needs change, helping you build confidence and long-term wellbeing.
Performance is influenced by more than training alone. Supporting your health may also mean considering the other systems that shape how your body adapts, recovers and performs.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Questions people often ask
-
No. Performance nutrition is for any active woman who wants her nutrition to support the way she trains, recovers and feels. Whether you enjoy strength training, running, cycling, yoga or simply lead an active lifestyle, your nutrition should reflect the demands you place on your body.
-
No. One of the most common challenges I see is women unintentionally under-fuelling. Rather than focusing on restriction, we'll explore whether your nutrition is providing your body with what it needs to support your health, recovery and performance.
-
Sometimes, but only as a temporary tool. Some women enjoy tracking their nutrition, while others find it overwhelming. When it's appropriate, we may use a tool like Cronometer for a short period to estimate energy, protein and macronutrient intake. For some, this provides valuable insights into eating habits. For others, it's simply a way to better understand portion sizes before returning to a more intuitive approach. The goal isn't to track forever, it's to use the right tools to help you make informed decisions.
-
Many of the women I work with already eat well. Sometimes the challenge isn't eating healthier—it's making sure your nutrition matches the demands you're placing on your body. Together, we'll look at whether your nutrition is providing the energy and nutrients your body needs to recover, adapt and perform at its best.
-
Not always. Many women benefit from personalised nutrition and lifestyle changes alone. Where appropriate, we'll discuss whether functional or medical testing could provide additional insight into your health and performance.
-
Yes. I work with clients throughout New Zealand via secure online consultations, as well as offering in-person appointments in Christchurch.
